Frequently asked questions
With modern anesthesia and sedation when appropriate, most patients report minimal discomfort during the procedure and relief afterward from the toothache that led them here.
A typical appointment lasts 60–90 minutes for most teeth. Complex cases or multi-rooted teeth can take longer or require a follow-up visit.
Often a crown or other permanent restoration is recommended after root canal therapy to protect and restore function, especially on back teeth.
What to expect — before, during & after
Before
We evaluate your tooth and medical history, take digital X-rays (or CBCT if necessary), and discuss anesthesia and restoration planning.
During
We use local anesthesia and isolation (rubber dam), then clean and shape the canals before filling and sealing. Sedation is available if requested.
After
Some soreness is normal for a few days — over-the-counter pain relievers are typically sufficient. We'll schedule your final restoration (crown) when appropriate.
